Pupils speak to Skye out loud using their microphone. To help both pupil and Skye know when to talk and when to listen, pupils will use a 'click to speak' button.
This short video shows you how pupils can use the 'click to speak' button.
Pupils can talk to Skye in two ways:
Answering when it's their turn
Some questions require a spoken answer - when it's a pupil's turn to speak, they will see a "Click to speak" button in their toolbar
They can either click on the button, or hold down the space bar, when they're ready to give their answer
As they talk, audio waves will appear - these show that everything is working and Skye is listening to their answer
When they've finished speaking, they click the button again (or release the space bar on their keyboard) to send their answer
If a question requires a spoken answer and the pupil does not click the "Click to speak" button, a visual reminder will appear after 30 seconds
Asking Skye a question during the session
If a pupil wants to say something to Skye at another time in the session, they can press the "Raise hand" button in the toolbar at the bottom of their screen
The "Raise hand" button will light up when the pupil is able to click it - it will be available when Skye has finished speaking
Skye will start listening as soon as the pupil clicks the "Raise hand" button
