Third Space Learning provides an AI-powered maths tutoring service for school students in years 3 to 11.

The only personally identifiable information (PII) we pass to our AI system is the first name of the student. Additional PII is stored in the electronic classroom that hosts the

student and the AI tutor, as well as the teacher admin features. The electronic classroom does not use AI.

To address common questions about how we handle PII in compliance with UK GDPR and related regulations, we've put together an FAQ document.

It covers:

  • Our data processors and Data Processing Agreements (DPAs)

  • Mechanisms in place to provide clear explanations to users about how and why decisions are being made by AI

  • How we ensure that our AI models are fair and do not discriminate against individuals or groups based on sensitive characteristics (e.g., race, gender, ethnicity, age)

  • What safeguards are in place against privacy risks (e.g. model inversion, data leakage)

  • Data transfers, data retention, and data deletion

  • How we audit our AI tutor and ensure our AI system, staff and processes are in compliance with applicable law and our own policies
